Wolf Pack Writers Action Group

Against Climate Catastrophe

The Wolf Pack Writers Action Group welcomes writers beyond the CWC who are committed to using their writing skills in the climate crisis. Our purpose is to support one another, write together, and share knowledge and writing opportunities.

Our members sponsor climate write-ins in at local venues in partnership with environmental groups such as the Sierra Club and 100K Trees for Humanity. We frequent Green Drinks to seek partnerships, and work with climate scientists to translate research into evocative writing.

Get Involved with the Pack

The Wolf Pack WAG was established by the CWC BB board in 2019, but we welcome members from all branches to share links to your work on our Facebook Group. Here’s our Trello board and our wiki. The best way to keep in touch is to follow this group. You can reach out to berkeley.cwc@gmail.com for more info.

Wolfpack Writers
Manifesto (ooo)

OUR MISSION:

to create a future by writing together. (Or to go down writing.)

OUR VISION:

When the Wolf Pack comes together, there is warmth and community. When the Wolf Pack howls together, the sound shakes hearts, breaks chains, hits the moon. When the Wolf Pack runs together, we create excitement that is greater than our fear. When the Wolf Pack hunts together, we succeed, and we feast! And when the Wolf Pack dreams together, we create the future.

Our vision:

We as a species have halted global warming at 1°c, and are lowering atmospheric carbon ppm, returning to 350. We as a species understand the mechanisms of our own resistance. We as a species believe we can unfuck the world. And if we don’t, as individuals, believe it, we are still committed to trying.

Fast forward to 2030, when we have reversed the momentum of our climate catastrophe, and are gaining new momentum in creating a sustainable climate for the next generations. We have arrived at this moment by writing new narratives, focusing on achievable steps toward a ladder of goals, and helping readers and listeners everywhere make a billion practical, possible choices in their personal, political, and cultural spheres.

“We choose to go to the Moon! We choose to go to the Moon…We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.” —John F. Kennedy

WE CHOOSE TO HOWL AT THE MOONSHOT!
