Summer Social Sunday August 16th at 1 p.m.
What’s in Store for our Zoom Picnic
In years past, we’ve had a picnic in the park for our summer social. Of course we’re committed to having all our meetings online for the duration of the pandemic. So here’s what you can expect.
Festivities begin Sunday, August 16th at 1 p.m.
The Cocktail Contest
At our annual picnic, we have traditionally had a cake contest with a literary theme. This year, to honor that via Zoom, we’re going to have a competition to see who can devise the best literary beverage.
Breakout Rooms for a Variety of Social Options
We’ll have themed breakout rooms so it never gets to crowded and you have a variety of options to choose from. You’re free to leave breakout rooms at any time, simply return to the main room.
Main Room: conversation and music
When you first arrive, you’ll be here. There’s no theme, but there will be music and conversation. The host will be using this space to direct people to their desired breakout room.
Collaborative writing games breakout room
Get to know your fellow writers while expressing yourself through short collaborative writing games and exercises.
Open mic breakout room
Join the list to speak at the open mic, or come by to listen. Warning: if you’re not in the room when your name comes up, you get skipped!
Book marketing and craft discussion
In lieu of our marketing and craft support groups, we’ll be having open ended and semi-guided discussions about marketing and craft. If you have craft or marketing issues to discuss or want to network, pop in here.
Reconvene for Cocktail Contest, Sail On Reading
Around 2:45 we will all come back to the main room to vote on the cocktail contest. We’lll also share club announcements, and highlights of the collaborative writing games. It’s a picnic tradition to share the poem that inspired the naval theme of the club, written by one of our founders.
