Earth Day Write-in, Reading at Hayward Lit Hop and MORE
Whether you’re just getting started with your writing or whether you’re about to promote your billionth book, there is always more you can do to grow your writing career. The California Writers Club of Berkeley is here to help writers at all stages of their career. Check out some of the events we have coming up for Spring, most of which are free!
Write in the Hights
19 April, Wednesday
11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Yes, the spelling of “Hights” is intentional! This because this event is named for our connection to Joaquin Miller, who had events in “the Hights” back before he gifted the park to the city. Turn off the distractions of the internet and join writer-in-residence Kristen Caven for a write-in in Joaquin Miller Park.
Free, Joauquin Miller Park Ranger Station. See Communal Writing Events for more info.
Inner & Outer Space: CWC-Berkeley Reading at the Hayward Lit Hop
April 22
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
work at Hayward Lit Hop. The reading will explore both inner human terrain and outer cosmic terrain.
Featuring: Kristen Caven, Ellen McBarnette, Paul Corman-Roberts, Karma Bennett, Keith Mark Gaboury, Rocky Leplin, and Diane Rawicz.
Free, at Yoga Sociale in Hayward. Map and RSVP on the Facebook event.
Write-In at the Oakland Museum of California
13 May, Saturday
11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
We gather at the cafe in the museum to GET SOME WRITING DONE. There is no need to check in, though if you see other writers you are welcome to say hello. We gather at 3 p.m. at the Peace Sign in OMCA park to share what we’ve written. You do not need to buy admission to the park to attend this event, though you are welcome to do so.
Free, Town Fare Cafe at the Oakland Museum of California. See Communal Writing Events for more info.

Many of the events above (aside from our speaker series and workshops) recur monthly. Subscribe to our CWC-BB Writing Events Google calendar to get reminders. We also host summer and winter socials, climate change write-ins, a local authors book launch and more. This year we’re planning our first-ever author camp out.
