Perhaps you’ve heard that Scrivener is the best tool for manuscript development, but you’re nervous to learn a new tool. If you haven’t heard of Scrivener, you should know that it’s a software for writers to organize their chapters, notes, and everything else related to a writing project. Whether you are writing a nonfiction book, a novel, or a script, Scrivener is so helpful you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it.
In this workshop, Karma Bennett will walk you through how to:
- Basic setup of documents, folders, research and notes in Scrivener
- Easily split your imported manuscript into sections and chapters
- Navigate quickly to different parts of your manuscript
- Interact with your scenes/sections as digital notecards that you can rearrange
- Save a “snapshot” of a current revision, so you can quickly roll back to a previous edit
- View two documents side-by-side to easily make edits to two chapters
- View a series of passages as an outline to assess progress, compare themes, or find passages that need work.
- Find the best passages for open mics and readings using the outline mode
- Use custom labels, statuses, keywords, collections and icons to organize your work and track your progress
- Set word counts for projects, documents or daily goals to stay motivated and meet your deadlines
- Set bookmarks to link documents to related chapters or research
You’ll be shocked at how easy it is to do these kinds of tasks in Scrivener—often in one or two clicks!
Karma will show you how to import your existing manuscript, and you can try all the features as we go. She has some tips on how she makes these features work for her writing; ask questions to customize the use cases to your particular needs. By the end of this workshop, you will have a draft or outline started in Scrivener and a solid understanding of how to make it work for you.

Anyone who purchases a ticket will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of Scrivener.
