You may know how to write poetry, fiction, and non-fiction…but grant writing is an art in itself.

Penning genre bestsellers isn’t the only way to earn a living as a writer! The nonprofit philanthropic world knows that art is too often undervalued, and steps in to sustain artists and writers in pursuing their goals. Arts grants create visibility and validation as well as a safety net for creators. But how can writers get their hands on unrestricted money?  

Grantwriting expert Susan Neufeld Paul will reveal the rewards and responsibilities of being a funded writer. Some of the topics she covers include:

Susan Neufeld Paul provides organization development and grantwriting services for individuals and nonprofits that seek to advance social justice, racial equity, and healing. She has worked in the nonprofit social services field for over 25 years, leading her organization’s fundraising and evaluation departments. 

Ms. Neufeld has over a dozen years of research and evaluation experience, including positions with CORAL Pasadena, SRI International, First 5 Los Angeles, Black Women for Wellness, and the UCLA Early Childhood Interventions Project; she has taught courses such as research methodology, statistics and child development at CSU Fullerton, San Bernardino and Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bethel College and an M.A. in Applied Developmental Psychology from The Claremont Graduate University, where she was also a Community Fellow.
