Poets on Earth: Environmental Write-In, Reading, and Open Mic
ATTN: Wolfpack Writers! Let’s howl!
We interrupt our regularly scheduled speaker series with an urgent call to gather and raise our voices!
From Earthday.org:
“We have just over a decade to halve our emissions to avoid the most devastating impacts of climate change on our food supply, national security, global health, extreme weather, and more.
“There is simply no time to waste. We need urgent and ambitious action at every level, from heads of state submitting increased national commitments to the Paris Agreement on climate change and cities walking the talk, to private sector leaders addressing climate change at every step of the supply chain, finance heads committing to divest from fossil fuels and green their investments and individual citizens using their unique influence to drive change and make an impact.”
Through the efforts of our partnership with Friends of Joaquin Miller Park, this CWC-Berkeley event is part of Oakland’s Earth Day Day of Action. On Saturday, April 20th, there will all sorts of earth-friendly activities—find one near you. On Sunday, April 21st, come and relax in the April sunshine with a picnic and a pen. This is a free event.

“Transportation is now the largest source of carbon emissions in the United States. No matter where you live, travel by car or airplane contributes heavily to our shared carbon footprint. Take public transit, biking, or walking when possible – it’s good for your health, your wallet, and the planet.” – EarthDay.org
Carpool to our Earth Day Event
In the past, people used to walk five miles up to Joaquin Miller’s place to gather and raise their voices. We can exercise the right to exercise. Need a ride? Can you give a ride? We can do this. Let’s activate the power of community and get there together. Carpool signup is here, the CWC will help coordinate. Park on Joaquin Miller Road and check in at Joaquin Miller’s Abbey for inspiration. Walk up Sanborn Road to the California Writers Circle.
