CWC at the Hayward Lit Hop this Saturday
Don’t miss this amazing lineup of Berkeley Branch Poets at the “Embodied” reading at the first annual Hayward Lit Hop, which was also started by a member of our branch, Cristina Deptula.
We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience.—but spiritual beings having a physical experience. We’ll be sharing our stories of pain and transcendence, sense and sensation through a literary lens. Your fingers on the keyboard. Your breath after a fright. The fight against the flesh, the flow within it.
This reading is at 4pm at YogaSociale, a serene and friendly studio where body and spirit harmonize. Featuring voices from the California Writers Club:
- Karma Bennett
- Kristen Caven
- Fred Dodsworth
- Keith Gaboury
- Jan Steckel
- Terry Tierney
with special guest
• Dada Nabhaniilanandaand
…and yoga breaks between speakers by host Laura Ronca.
Limited seating on bolsters and yoga mats; some chairs are provided. Please wear a mask and bring your vaccine card to keep this event accessible for as many people as possible, including the immunocompromised. Please also say you’re going to Embodied at the #HaywardLitHop for #IndieBookstoreDay and #PoetryMonth!
This is a literary festival all over downtown Hayward, in honor of National Poetry Month and National Independent Bookstore Day, where different writing groups will perform one hour each of poetry or prose at various downtown venues. The festival begins at 2pm at the Hayward downtown library where the city will announce its first teen poet laureate, then moves outdoors to nearby Heritage Plaza for a Ballet Folklorico show and further readings. Different venues will then open up for readings of one hour each between 4pm and 7pm. At 7pm the Sun Gallery will host an afterparty! Here’s an event map.
Please come join us on Saturday April 30th and also visit the rest of the festival!
