Critique Group Seeking Writers
One of our members participates in an Oakland-based writing critique group that’s interested in adding a new member. The group meets every two to three weeks, twelve months a year with calendar adjustments around the holidays. The writers are working on novels, short stories, and memoirs.
Here is a description from one of the group’s members:
The group meets in person at homes near downtown Oakland, except when there are pandemics when we meet over zoom. Meetings are usually on Wednesdays from 4:30 through 8:00 and some times 9:00 including a break for dinner. The writers bring one of entree, salad, or desert. Each member submits a piece of about 3,000 words by email a week before a meeting. We write a critique using an outline and edit the piece. At the meeting, we discuss each piece.
Express interest by emailing Gary Durbin at hacker@varabot.com.
If this group doesn’t work out for you, our 5-page critique group always welcomes walk-ins. We don’t typically announce regular monthly events on our blog, so be sure to check our groups page if you need craft or marketing support and subscribe to our calendar to keep up with all of our events.
