Bring “a blanket and a basket of chow” and come hang out with all your writer friends!
When: Saturday, July 30, 1-4:00 pm
Where: The Fire Circle in Joaquin Miller Park, about 1/2 mile above Highway 13 on Joaquin Miller Road. The Fire Circle is inside the park, slightly north of Joaquin Miller’s Abbey and below the Cascades, and not visible from Joaquin Miller Road.
Here is a charming Park Map. Please download the visual Fire Circle Details & Directions to get there easily. (Be aware that the 3594 Sanborn Drive address takes you to the Commiunity Center at the top of the hill. It is about a mile to walk from there down to the Fire Circle.) Other info can be found on www.oaklandnet.com/joaquinmillerpark)
Why: to meet, to read, to talk, to enjoy the park, and to view the six new educational panels near Joaquin Miller’s Abbey (downhill from the Fire Circle). One mentions the CWC and the other our early members.
Bring: your book, a dish to share, your beverage of choice [we have an alcohol permit this year], and, if you’re feeling creative, a literary-themed CAKE to enter in our contest!
Volunteers are needed to:
– shuttle/pickup guests from the Montclair District
– set up early morning signage the morning of the picnic
